EXCERPT

“Beg me again, Phee.”

“Bryant…” Phee groaned, panting against the bedding, bent over his lap as he teased her mercilessly. His fingers curling down to brush against that bundle of nerves inside as his thumb pressed rhythmically over her clit. Continuing until she was gritting her teeth to hold back the flood of pleas that threatened to escape.

“Either beg me for what you want, or I’ll tie you up and make sure you don’t come all night.” Bryant’s threat made Phee’s mouth drop open, but before she could come up with something smart ass to say he slid a third finger inside her, pumping them in a vicious tease that had her shivering towards the edge of a glorious orgasm.

“Oh God… Bryant!” Phee bucked against his grip, but he refused to let her move, and so she finally gave in. Let go and let the tug of Bryant Holbrook’s whirlpool drag her down. “Please, Bryant, please fuck me, because I’m going to lose it if you don’t. Please, please—”

Bryant pushed her off his lap and onto her back, and then he was on top of her, his knees moving her thighs apart as she arched up against his chest. “You beg so well, Phee,” he purred, hips dropping between hers, and she was infuriated by the fabric separating them as he ground himself against her.

“Bryant! Please!” Phee reached down and tugged at the waist of his boxers, and he laughed against her skin as he kissed up her neck.

“So, you’re saying you want me?” Bryant grinned at her and grabbed her wrists, pinning them above her head.

“Yes! I want you, please, Bryant,” Phee begged, the whine in her voice obvious as she rolled her hips to try and get more contact, to try and get him to give in. Damn his self-control.

“All you had to do was ask.” He kissed her hard, biting her lip and devouring her mouth in a delirious rush that finally gave her a hint that he felt the same way she did. Lifting her hips, she moaned against his lips, desperate to feel him inside her. Breaking the kiss with a groan, he twisted to grab a condom from the bedside table and she immediately reached for his boxers. Bryant went still, grinning down at her. “Did I say you could move your hands, Phee?”

Whining, she returned them above her head, and it was torture to watch as he slid two fingers into his mouth. Tasting her like he had all the time in the world as the condom hung in his other hand and his cock stayed trapped behind dark cloth. Lifting her hips into the air, she was reassured by the way Bryant’s gaze burned down her body to focus between her legs. “Please, Bryant. Please…

“You taste so good.” That cocky smile tilted his lips and he gripped himself through his boxers, stroking as he lifted the foil of the condom to his mouth and tore the edge. “Are you going to be a good girl for me?”

“Yes, I will, I swear!” All pride out the window, she clenched the bedding in her fingers so she wouldn’t move.

“Next time I’m going to tie you up just so I can watch you writhe like this.” It was a promise she hoped he’d keep, but then none of it mattered because he was pushing his boxers down. He was long, thick, and she wanted to taste him, but didn’t dare move and tempt him to drag this out any further. He rolled the condom on slowly as he leaned over her. “Spread your legs for me,” he commanded and she did.

“Bryant,” she whispered, and then he was kissing her. One of his hands enveloped her wrists, tightening to hold them in place as she moaned against his lips, his cock brushing against her in a tortuous tease. She lifted her hips, pleading in broken murmurs, before he finallythrust inside her.

It was like hitting the ocean floor, the whirlpool an endless height above her, and she arched hard off the bed. He growled his own pleasure, hand tightening the grip on her wrists as he started to move. Each thrust pushing her closer to that tenuous edge of sharp pleasure, and an endless stream of pleas slipped from her lips as he moved his mouth to her neck and trailed kisses down to her shoulder. “That’s right, beg me for it…”

A Sizzling Taste of…Inferno

I thought I’d give you a taste of the last in the Missoula Smokejumper series. Inferno will bring various stories together and of course, all my HOT men will be involved and the ladies they were determined to love. This is so bittersweet for me. I never knew as an author that you do get involved in the lives of the characters. Highlighting the beautiful city of Missoula has also been a joy. I hope you’ve laughed and cried along with me. I think I cried four times writing this particular story. That might tell you something!

Happy reading…

INFERNO – ANTONIO’S STORY (unedited)

“Tell me your kinkiest fantasy.” Her tone was soft, velvety, the kind of voice a man could listen to for days.

Antonio Giovanni almost knocked over his beer. His entire body was tingling, wild desire Infernobursting at the seams. And all from a single line. Willa had a look about her, ruby stained lips and long legs a man could lose track of time just admiring. “You mean whips and chain?”

“Mmm…” Willa dragged her tongue all the way around her glass, a husky purr coming from her throat. “Whips. Chains. Bondage. Beatings.”

Why did he have a feeling this girl was teasing him? Leaning over, he whispered in her ear. “To have absolute domination over a woman for an entire weekend, nothing held back. Binding her wrists and ankles, keeping her chained to do my bidding any. Time. I. Desire. Perfect.”

Closing her eyes, she shuddered and took a sip of her drink. “I like a rough and tumble man.”

Chuckling, he sat back, studying her chiseled face and porcelain skin. She was far too gorgeous to frequent a dive bar like this one. “Any other questions for me? You know, to see if I pass the test?”

“Let me think. What are you looking for?”

He studied her face in the dim light of the bar. “In life?”

“In everything.” She laughed and eased her hand over her mouth, her eyes twinkling. “I know, far too philosophical for a bar conversation. Right?”

Shrugging, he thought about her question. He’d met her maybe thirty minutes before. Two people in a rundown hole in the wall seeking solace and a hard drink. Willa seemed like a nice girl, far too much so to be sitting all alone. There were three other customers, scruffy and intoxicated, an indication of the kind of place. “Peace.”

“Said like a tortured man.” Willa swirled the swizzle stick in her drink.

“I’ve never thought of myself that way, but you might be right.” He was far too attracted.

Sitting back, she allowed her gaze to travel up and down, studying him from head to toe. “Tony. I can tell you’re more than what you appear to be. You’re not a paper pusher, not by a long shot. If I had to guess what you did, I’d say a policeman or maybe a rancher.”

Forced to resist laughing, he shook his head. “Not even close, except for the paper pushing part. I don’t think I could sit behind a desk all day. If I had to guess, I’d say you were an attorney.” He hadn’t been creative when using a fake name and wasn’t entirely certain he knew why he had, except for he didn’t need any complications in his life. He wasn’t looking for romance or a girl friend of any type. He’d traveled out of Missoula to spend the weekend alone, to think about what the fuck he was doing with his life.

He had a feeling he was being passed up for promotion and he’d spent the better part of a solid month enraged, almost getting his ass suspended from the smokejumping team. The last thing he needed to do was lose his job, one he loved more than anything in his life. Hell, jumping was the only thing he had in his life that was worthwhile. So, the trip had been on the fly, driving until he found a bar close to a hotel. To be very much alone, wallowing in a bottle.

Then she walked into the dingy bar.

Her smile widening, she re-crossed her leg. “I’ll take that as a compliment, but hell no. I couldn’t stand to be in a courtroom either defending or prosecuting lowlifes. That would piss me off royally.”

Damn it. He liked this girl. From her short fiery red hair to her provocative dress, she was the perfect objection to getting a good night’s sleep. “I know at least one attorney who might fight you on that one.”

“I’ve never met any attorneys I could call anything but slimy.”

“Ouch. Sounds like you’ve had some horrible experiences.” Antonio found himself leaning in, catching every word, concentrating on what she said in return. This wasn’t like him.

“Let’s just say I’ve had certain family issues over the years forcing me to seek answers. I didn’t like what I heard so I’m moving on my way.”

“Is that why you’re here?”

She gave him a wry look. “In a way. Just some time to myself, which rarely happens.”

He lifted his drink. “To finding out shit out here in the middle of nowhere.”

Willa winked as she lifted her glass, touching her rim to his beer bottle. “I can drink to that.” After taking a swallow, she closed her eyes, making murmuring sounds.

Fuck, if his cock wasn’t aching, thumping hard against his way to tight jeans.

“What kind of women do you like?” she asked then rolled her eyes. “Doesn’t that sound like a come on?”

They both laughed, and he wasn’t even certain what to tell her. “Truth is. I hope it’s a come on. I love intelligent women with attitude, yet women who prefer a man to be in firemen-sexy-2015,jpgcharge.” Oh yeah, he was risking the woman slapping him across the face and storming out of the bar.

“You mean in the bedroom?” She had a sly expression on her face.

He had to swallow twice before he could answer. Here goes nothing. “In the bedroom and in the relationship. Might sound old fashioned and I guess it is, but I think having one person in charge, and in my case the man as the head of household, is the glue for any relationship. Equality leads to more arguments.”

“So, the man decides the rules and what the little woman can do?” Willa asked quietly.

“Well, yes, with agreement from his little woman,” he said as he grinned, feeling the heat of embarrassment riding up from his neck. Had he ever admitted this to another woman? Even with Lila, he hadn’t formed any rational thoughts in any form. In fact, they argued the majority of the time. Then Lila had been over eight years ago.

“Hmmm… That’s very interesting.” She remained unblinking but seemed a thousand miles away.

Great, you Neanderthal. He shook his head and took another gulp of beer. That was one way to end a great conversation.

“A woman can feel protected as well as loved, secure in her environment. Pressure is taken off, allowing for a happier relationship. I bet the sex is damn hot as well.” Her tone of voice had changed, full of teasing.

Leaning over, he lowered his voice so only she could hear. “Sex is hot. As. Shit.”

Willa licked her lips in response.

Antonio was in absolute agony, ready to rip off his jeans as well as the sexy little dress she was wearing. He tried everything to squash his libido.

“Fascinating. I’ve never met a man who was so open and honest. Most men act like they want women to be equals.” Willa scooted closer.

Just enough he inhaled her perfume, the exotic scent filling his nostrils and driving him to the point of madness. His cock was begging for relief. Even using the term ‘relationship’ surprised the heck out of him. “I prefer to be completely honest.”

“That’s wonderful because honestly builds trust and that is something I must have. To break trust even once is the worst sin and unforgiveable.”

Antonio heard conviction behind her words.

She darted a look over her shoulder, as if making certain no one could hear their conversation. “Let me recap. A man in this case, being in charge means making rules, requiring the little woman to abide and obey or risk facing the consequences? She no doubt has an allowance, limits on credit cards, friends she can see. That kind of thing.” She had a gleam in her eyes.

“Honestly? Yes, although I don’t care about friends.” All the chats he’d been a part of with the other jumpers on the team, their time spent in what they called the Burnout club had been one sided for him. He hadn’t participated or had much to offer. What did he know about disciplining a woman? But he craved just that.

She eased her hand down the length of her neck, the tips of her fingers moving back and forth in a slow and easy rhythm. “Truly fascinating.”

“And your thoughts?” Antonio was mesmerized by her dazzling blue eyes, her high cheekbones and the beautiful cleft between her voluptuous breasts. He tried to force himself to look away, but she was far too captivating, igniting a fire from deep within.

Hesitating, she leaned further over, until her face was within only a few inches from his. When she spoke, her tone had changed yet again, becoming huskier, sexy in an unassuming way. “Don’t tell anyone I told you this, but I agree. I think all women deserve and require a hard spanking from time to time.”

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Now, his damn dick was pinched to the point he was going to have to find some sort of relief soon. “I think I’ve waited my entire life to hear a woman say that.”

His reward was her hand floating across his knee.

“Your turn. What do you like in a man?” The third drink had gone down way too easily, perhaps for both of them.

“That’s easy. Dark and brooding with a penchant for danger. Dominating with a heart of gold. Unwilling to take my crap for any period of time.” She giggled again, tossing back her head as she swirled back and forth on the barstool.

“I take it you’re a very bad little girl.”

“Very much so. Wicked in fact.”

“Then you do need a hard spanking.” He touched his belt on purchase, watching her reaction.

A slight moan escaped her lips as she nodded. “Yes. God, yes.”

Antonio’s heart was racing, electricity skyrocketing throughout every cell in his body. Taking a chance, he reached out, sliding his index finger down her cheek to her mouth. When she purred, he held his breath and traced a series of circles around her mouth. He could just make out her nipples pushing hard against her blouse, could see a hint of her lacy bra given one of the buttons had come undone.

Pursing her lips, she darted out her tongue, dragging the tip down his finger.

“Jesus,” he whispered and slid his hand around her neck, tightening his grip just enough as he pulled her further forward. “I can give you exactly what you crave, what you need.”

She continued licking his finger, moving her tongue up and down in a lazy fashion. Grasping his hand, she held his arm in place as she pulled his finger into her wet mouth, sucking in an exaggerated fashion.

“Would you like me to give you a spanking right here. Right now?” He kept his grip firm, his fingers digging into the flesh of her neck.

Willa eased his finger out of her mouth. “Yes, please.”

Hunger unlike any he’d known for years roared, sliding into every tense muscle. Tugging her off the stool, he crushed his mouth over hers, plunging his tongue inside, tasting her sweet essence.

Clinging to him, she moaned into the kiss as their tongues entwined.

The moment became intense with passion, his actions becoming more manic, even rough as he shifted to his feet, pulling her close to the heat of his body. He pushed his groin against her stomach, grinding as he sucked on her tongue. Everything about this felt so right, amazing to the point he was overheated, beads of sweat rolling down the back of his neck.

Willa eased the flats of her hands up and down his back, her fingers kneading. She arched her back as he held her, rising onto her tiptoes.

Breaking the kiss, he nipped her lower lip before sliding his mouth down to her chin and across her jawbone. He took a step back, grabbing her hand and pulling her behind him as he walked toward the shadowed hallway leading to the bathrooms. The bartender followed with his eyes, snorting before tipping his head to stare at the television screen behind the bar.

There was no one to stop them or care what they were doing.

I hope you’ve enjoyed and happy Saturday!

Kisses and spanks…

Valentines GIveaway 1

Writing is such a joy and I’m thrilled to be able to do this everyday. When I started the Missoula Smokejumpers series, which had been on my mind for years, I wanted to bring readers the truth and reality behind what they do. They work in dangerous situations, fighting fires with their training and brawn – but no water. They often burn trees and underbrush to eradicate fuel for an ongoing fire. They use axes and chainsaws, dig trenches and do everything to change the direction of a fire. Sadly, think about the horrific fires in California recently. You can bet there were several teams on hand, along with hundreds of firefighters.

Burn is the second book in the series. While all four books, the two prequels and the Christmas story (three more planned in the series) can be read as a stand alone, as readers/reviewers have pointed out, you’re missing so much if you don’t read them all. burn_sj2_cover_bigWhy? Because it entails the lives of seven smokejumpers and the women they love – as well as discipline. They live to the extreme as true alpha men, but have hearts of gold and would die for their team, their friends and family and even the amazing town of Missoula.

If you enjoy Burn, then pick up a copy of Ignite, the first in the series and at only $.99, I think you’ll enjoy the long book setting the tone. Blaze is due out in early March with the last two following closely thereafter. You’re going to get the real deal – fire, danger, mystery, suspense, arson, love, spankings, domination, joy and heartache.

Men of Danger

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. I’ve been busy this last month, working on several new books and stories. No rest for the…  Well, I do enjoy writing. Time to get back to business. Missoula Smokejumpers is my baby. I think anyone who’s read a single book in the series knows this. I love the characters, the town and the danger. I also love the danger the smokejumpers are involved in as well as their dominating passion. There’s something about men who walk headlong into a dangerous situation that truly fuels our fantasies.

The 4th book in the series is coming out on January 26th and this is Riker’s story. My biker, my muscular and very brooding man. He has his reasons for being standoffish, even curt. You know he does and I hope his story allows you to see inside the man. Would you like a preliminary taste? Totally unedited, so keep that in mind. I hope you enjoy.

FIRESTORM – MISSOULA SMOKEJUMPERS BOOK FOUR

Riker Sheffield rounded the corner, pushing the Harley to its limits. He loved the crisp spring air, the way the wind whipped around his body as he accelerated. Leaning into Firestorm 500x755another curve, he could see a line of cars ahead, moving at a snail’s pace. When he was in a straight section, he jutted out and bolted ahead, passing all four vehicles. He had a couple days off and the free time would allow him to play.

The end of the bitter cold winter meant a new fire season. As if the season had allowed the smokejumping team any concept of rest. Too many dangerous fires had destroyed thousands of acres of land in three states. He was exhausted and antsy, longing to spend a few weeks by himself. He hissed as he rolled into town, shooting by Ziggy’s. While he’d developed real friendships with the Jackals, the majority of the smokejumping team would never understand the man inside.

Neither did he any longer.

He remained bitter, full of anger to the point he’d succumbed to drinking alone, something he swore he’d never do. At least the pain was dulled enough he could sleep, freefalling into a drunken state and away from the constant nightmares. He wanted to say enough was enough, but there was nothing that could drag him away from the anguish. Nothing.

After stopping at a red light, he contemplated where he was going to land for the night. A single thought came to his mind. The biker bar was on the other side of town and far removed from a location his buddies would consider, perhaps with the exception of Landen. However, his best friend and a man after his own heart had a woman. A damn woman. Yeah, he couldn’t help but smile. Someone deserved a level of happiness.

He took off, roaring past the sightseers and tourists, heading in the direction of the dilapidated bar. He’d been to the place a few times, his presence never questioned. Tonight, he needed some kind of relief or he was going to crawl out of his skin.

Rolling into the parking lot, he darted a glance at the other vehicles. Mostly bikes of various sizes and types, he knew he’d feel comfortable, even fitting right in. He parked in the back and climbed off, securing his helmet. He could hear the sound of loud music pumping through the thin walls. The time wasn’t event nine-thirty and already things were getting wild.

Exactly what he needed. A damn good time.

Riker headed inside, taking only a moment before walking straight for the bar. There were no odd looks, other than perhaps given his massive size. Yeah, he towered over almost every man but his look was basically the same. Jeans, shit kicker boots, a tee shirt and jacket, only his being leather. The place was crowded, wall to wall with mostly men. He could see more than one game of pool, a few throwing darts and all were drinking.

Easing onto a bar stool, he tapped his fingers on top of the bar. Almost instantly the bartender acknowledged, giving him a respectful nod. Not a single one knew of his status, a supposed hero to so many in town, nor would they give a shit. This was just the way he liked it. He was nothing to no one which meant there wasn’t a thing expected out of him.

“What’ll ya have?”

“Budweiser. Bourbon chaser.” Riker thought of Stoker, the man’s usual drink and snickered. Wouldn’t the jumper be proud?

The place was hot. Too many bodies in one damn place. After removing his jacket, he settled into the worn wooden stool and gave a quick glance at the ancient television, the grainy picture highlighting some game that he sure as shit didn’t care about. The thought made him sigh. He’d been forced to face some ugly truths as of late. He didn’t give a shit about anything but his job. Not a single blessed thing.

“Here ya go. You got a credit card?” The bartender asked as he slid the drinks across the bar.

Riker grabbed a twenty, tossing it past the drinks. “Cash still good?”

“Works for me. Let me know when you need another one.”

He raised the bottle, taking a swig. At least the beer was ice cold. Polishing off half the liquid, he noticed a group of females sitting together at a table in the back. An unusual site in a place like this. Biker women were well attached and not a single man would let them come out in a pack. He snickered and shook his head. Listen to his barbarian thoughts. Things had certainly changed in a few years.

The bourbon was just smooth enough, settling his aching head and he could feel a portion of the tension easing away. Even the headaches had occurred more often, keeping him grumpy, or so he’d been told more than once. This would be a good respite, albeit brief, to find his soul. This time, he resisted laughing. His soul had been ripped away one fateful night.

When one of the girls eased out of her chair, he couldn’t help but notice. She was striking. Long reddish blond hair and a killer body. As she walked through the crowd, swishing her hips in a way every red blooded male would notice, he watched. He didn’t mind enjoying the view.

“Hey ya, hot mama. Wanna play?”

She stopped, gave the man a hard look and pointed her finger. “Sorry, dude. You don’t have what it takes.”

“Ooohh!” Several men yelled then whistled their approval.

The damn bars were all the same. At least this one had some entertainment value. He fingered the glass before polishing off the bourbon, lifting the finished product so the bartender could see.

“Gotcha,” the man said, immediately grabbing a glass.

The girl slid her hand against almost every shoulder as she passed, her walk becoming more exaggerated. And she was headed right for him.

Riker looked away, concentrating on the second drink as it appeared, the man behind the bar no longer asking for an instant payment. He swirled the drink, listening to the various conversations, none of which were interesting in any manner.

Mmm… What do you think?

Don’t forget that the second prequel – Standing at the River’s Edge is out. Now, this is a prequel, four short stories about Riker, Boone, Sawyer and Antonio and the reasons they became smokejumpers. A taste. That’s all. But… important information.

Have a great day!

Kisses…

Piper

My Special Guest – Dakota Black

I have another guest on my blog. Well, for many of you – you know that this is another one of my pseudos. I write in several genres including romantic suspense, thrillers – in which I love killing people in creative methods, spanking and forms of Domination and submission. Sometimes readers only identify with one type of book. A product of the times. Hence the second name. Texas Oil is a product of my adoration for very strong and gritty careers, hence men and women who don’t mind getting dirt under their fingernails.

Texas Oil is about an oil production company and the men involved, from the CEO (who has a dark past) to the roughnecks in the field. They are all full of passion, drive and each man carries a terrible secret. Their stories are sometimes brutal, always dominating and Shadow of Doubt_500x755you bet sexy. At least I think so. Book one begins the story. Three men run Rush Enterprises but there are others involved in their lives that provide the juice, the verve keeping them on their toes. Releasing tomorrow from Blushing Books.

TEXAS OIL – A SHADOW OF DOUBT

EXCERPT

“I beg your pardon? Who are you again?” Dani narrowed her eyes and studied the man standing in front of her desk. The unknown employee had barged into her office, saying in no uncertain terms she was leaving on a plane in thirty minutes. This had to be a joke.

“Camden Dane, the Vice President of this rather oversized boy’s club.” His eyes flashing, he held out his hand. “I see you got the dog office. We’ll have to do something about that.”

She kept her stance as she shook his hand. The man was unassuming, sexy in a soft sell kind of way. Dancing lavender eyes, tall with long legs, and a firm handshake suited the obvious cowboy. Vice President. She would have assumed a more studious appearance then faded blue jeans and a white, collarless shirt. “Interesting analogy and the office is just dandy.”

“I’m never wrong,” Camden stated as he looked around her office. “Sparse. We need to do something about that. At least we can certainly find some art around here somewhere.”

“Thanks, but I can take care of my own art. I have very peculiar styles.” She folded her arms. “I’m sorry. I didn’t quite catch what you were saying to me earlier.”

“I apologize. I shouldn’t have been so abrupt but time is of the essence, Ms. Montgomery.” Camden closed the door.

“Call me Dani, please. Time. Okay. What do you need me to do?”

He moved closer to her desk. “Your expertise is sorely needed for a situation that has arisen in some newly purchased oil fields just outside of El Paso. We need you to visit the site, check through the tests and determine if there is any truth and if so, what can be done to repair the problem.”

Everything was vague, his words clipped. “Mr. Dane, I may have studied oil and its various components, but I’m not certain I’m the best person for this job given I’ve never seen an oil field.”

“You won’t be alone, I assure you.”

“You must have an entire department of engineers that are much more familiar with this type of problem.” Dani could tell he was holding back information.

Camden kept his smile as he inched even closer. “May I be frank with you?”

“Please do.”

“These particular fields were purchased recently, leveraged with our investors based on the multitude of tests taken prior to the purchase. They are supposed to be some of the top producing fields in the state. That would place Rush Enterprises on top, crushing our competition. If—”

“If you were sold a false bill of goods, the entire company could lose millions, let alone be fresh bait for your competition?” Dani asked, interrupting.

Camden’s eyes glimmered. “Hiring you was an excellent decision. I can tell you understand the dire situation. I’ve called a driver to take you to the private airstrip, which isn’t far from here. From there you’ll catch a plane and you can purchase whatever you need on the company card while you’re there.”

“Wait,” Dani said as she walked around the desk. “How long am I going to be there?”

“Just overnight but there’s no time to pack anything so we’re happy to accommodate.”

If she had to admit the truth, she was excited about the possibilities. First day on the job and she’s called on to see if she can help with an issue? “What exactly is wrong with the oil?”

cowboy with lasso“You’ll be given the remaining details once you’re on the plane.”

“In other words, this is top secret.”

Camden nodded. “Yep. You’re good. The car will be here in five minutes.” He turned and headed for her door.

“Hold on. Who am I going with?”

As he opened her door, he gave her a sideways glance. “Just another engineer, but he’s well versed in the work. You’ll learn a lot.”

“Okay. Thanks.” Dani jumped when the door was closed and she wasn’t entirely certain why. She wrung her hands and walked toward the floor to ceiling window. This could actually make or break her career. El Paso? That was hours away. So, the company owned their own plane. She bit her lower lip to keep from squealing with glee. This was amazing.

She grabbed her purse and was standing in wait until Mrs. Fletcher whisked into her office to let her know the car had arrived. Dani practically floated on her way to the elevator, whistling as she walked outside.

“Ms. Montgomery? My name is Mark. I’m here to take you to the airport. Just make yourself comfortable. We’ll be there in less than ten minutes.”

The young man was well dressed, pleasant and was cute to boot. What could be better? She settled in the small limo, stifling a giggle when she was alone. Wouldn’t this be a fantastic story over a round of margaritas?

Given she had no idea where she was going, she enjoyed the ride, taking in the scenery. The ride was smooth and took just a few minutes. When she stepped outside, she wasn’t certain what she’d expected to see. The airport was small by New York or DC standards, but the bustling scene was far removed from private. She was escorted to a small building.

“There you go,” Mark said as he gave her a respectful nod. “Enjoy the trip.”

“Thank you, Mark.” She watched him drive away before going inside. The space was modern and bright, windows encompassing three quarters of the area. There was a ticket counter as well as a cozy seating area. Clutching her purse, she walked toward the counter.

The woman behind the desk immediately smiled. “You must be Danielle Montgomery.”

“Yes.” This was impressive.

“We’ve been expecting you. The plane is just finishing fueling so you should leave close to expected time.”

“Which is?” Dani glanced out the window at the plane. “Shit.” What had she anticipated? A beat up DC9? The sleek jet was black with red lettering, the writing indicating the owner. Rush Enterprises. She suddenly felt very insignificant.

“Twelve minutes. You can wait right over there. The pilot will let me know when you can board.”

Dani nodded, thanked the girl and did everything she could not to hurl. Retching on the marble floor would be bad manners indeed. She held her breath as she walked to the window, palming the glass. This had to be a fairytale or at minimum a fantasy gone wild. They’d hired the wrong person. She wasn’t this good of an engineer. Not by a long shot.

Shivering, she issued a single moan. How was she going to be able to pull this off?

“Afraid of flying?”

His voice, husky and sensual, permeated her mind, cutting through her conundrum of fears. With a shift of her eyes she could see the reflection of his face, still shadowed by the glistening sun. However, she knew who was standing behind her, a man she desired more than anyone she had before. “I’m not afraid of anything.”

Mitchell flanked her side, keeping his eyes pinned on the runway. “That’s good to hear, very good in fact.”

“And why is that?” As a few seconds ticked into minutes, she resisted wiping a bead of perspiration from her forehead. No way in hell was her boss, and the man she’d fondled on the dance floor, going to see her sweat.

Leaning against the window, he turned toward her, the look on his face commanding. “Because one day, you’re going to be mine.”

Struggling for a New Life…

It’s interesting how people view abuse in books. As we know, OF COURSE, there are various kinds of abusive from physical to mental, from lovers to employers and everything in between. No abuse is okay at any time for any reason. Period. However, this is a sad part of everyday lives and I think stories of heroic efforts to change, move on, start a new live or find lawful methods of retribution need to be told. If some of my passages make you wince, cry, rage in horror and finally smile in Maveric_500x755peace, then I’ve done my job. Yes, I understand abuse in certain ways. I don’t think there’s a human being alive who hasn’t experienced or at least been a party to some form. Sad state our world is, but this is our truth.

The Rescue Me Series isn’t about the constant happy times couples have. They aren’t simple romances with fluffy animals. They are a telling of love, strength, horrors, happiness, anger – you get the message. Every story has a hero or two – including those in furry bundled love. I’m very proud of Maverick and would like to bring you another taste. I do so hope you enjoy. More will be coming later…

MAVERICK – RESCUE ME

EXCERPT

Guilt settled into McKenzie’s system. She stood staring at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, worried to death about Maverick and wondering how in the hell she’d gotten herself into such a mess in the first place. Anthony wasn’t a monster. Or was he? She wasn’t certain of anything any longer. Yes, she’d known about his anger issues as well as his arrogance. For some reason she thought love could conquer all. The bad boy and the good girl. She’d ceased being good a long time ago. He and his family had infected her mind if not her very soul.

After another gulp of wine, she set the glass on the counter and peeled off her clothes. The bruises on her face and neck would heal in time. The scratches on her arms would fade away. The scars on her heart would never leave.

She touched her face, memories of the good times providing a tearful moment. She’d loved him, even after his personality had changed. Now this. She might lose everything but she refused to give in, stay married to him for another month. Hissing, she started the shower. His rich family would no doubt stand behind him as they always did.

“She’s not good enough for you.”

“She’s beneath you, Anthony.”

“You can do so much better. The family deserves better.”

The family. What a crock of shit. The tainted words remained furrowed into the back of her mind. She stepped into the shower, allowing the water to cascade down over her head. Not a single member of his family had ever accepted her or their marriage. She’d wondered often if Anthony had gotten hitched to her simply to piss off his parents. What did the concern really matter any longer? They had their wish now. He was free as a bird and had all but destroyed her in the process.

Palming the cool tile, she dropped her head as the tears began to fall. How many times had she promised herself that she’d never cry again? How many times had she allowed him to slither back into her life? She was done. Finished. She had to be strong. She would fight. She would prevail.

cowboy standingYou’re so full of shit. She gulped air as the tears continued to fall, loathing her inner voice, the one that had kept her questioning every move she made. She slapped the wall and tilted her head back, issuing a strangled scream. “Why? Why can’t I have a normal life?”

Because you’re worthless. You have no skills. You are nothing without me.

She blinked and shook her head, the wretched words, his words would forever haunt her. “You’re wrong. You fucking asshole. You’ll see.” Yeah, she’d show the world. Her thoughts drifted to Maverick and her legs began to shake. She knew he was badly hurt. Even the good doctor was concerned. She could tell by Diego’s expression and the wretched look in his eyes. He didn’t want to tell her the truth. She was going to lose the one thing she loved in this very world, the only thing that she could love.

Crumpling to her knees, she cradled her arms around her legs, pulling them to her chest. The water continued to pound down, mixing with her tears. She rocked back and forth as flashes of the past fueled her now vile anger. She was going to destroy Anthony, no matter how long or how much money she had to spend in order to do so.

Maverick. She could hear his fearful whimpers in her mind. She knew he was looking for mommy dog. He was all alone and scared. He’d tried to protect her. He was her savior. No, he was her salvation. Strong. You will be powerful and you will fight. Sniffing, she whipped the salty beads away, determined to close down her emotions.

After a few minutes, she rose to her feet and finished her shower. Tonight, she’d placed her beloved pup’s wellbeing in the hands of a stranger. Karma was kicking her in the ass. This was going to be the toughest thing she had to deal with in her life.

McKenzie found a robe on the back of the bathroom door. A smile crossed her face as she studied the red and blue plaid design. Somehow, she couldn’t see the cowboy vet in something like this. Still, the flannel was warm and cozy, the scent all male. She held the material close to her nose, drinking in his essence. A staunch sense of embarrassment, she shook away the thought and donned the attire.

Antsy, she retrieved her wine and walked toward the kitchen to refill her glass. She stood staring out the window, thinking about the last year. There was nothing she could do but fight Anthony, demanding a divorce. He’d grow bored soon enough, preferring to play with one of his blonde bimbos.

Her thoughts drifted to Diego. The cowboy was certainly a breath of fresh air. He also understood her desires, not judging or condemning her. The concept was not what she’d expected from anyone. She could remember the look in her best friend’s eyes when she’d expressed her desires for discipline, being punished for being a bad girl. The admittance had almost cost them their friendship. As if that mattered. She’d left everyone behind forever.

“Stop,” she muttered. She had to start thinking clearly so she could develop a plan. Maybe Diego could help. Groaning, she rubbed her eyes.

What was it about this man, this stranger that intrigued her so much? Why was she thinking about future possibilities when her life was in ruins? Perhaps she’d never figure out the answer but certainly not tonight. Resigned, she sipped her wine and said a prayer for Maverick.

Chuckling, she noticed the orange glow in the distance and frowned, uneasiness settling into her system. She couldn’t help but wish Anthony would die in a massive fire. Yeah, then she wouldn’t have to worry about the crap she was going to have to go through. Yes, the concept was delicious.

Snorting, she settled on the couch, propping up her feet and finishing her wine. Minutes later she began to nod off. As vivid images settle into her subconscious, she smiled. If only there were bears in the Virginia woods. Perhaps a pack of wolves would do the trick. Or a hitman.

If only she had the courage.

A TASTE FOR RED

SYNOPSIS

Blackmailed into working with the local police department, the case involving wine fraud utilizes one of her many talents. However, going undercover alongside a sexy cowboy cop may destroy her mask of steel. Detective Cody Walker is estranged from his ranch in Montana, taking the only job offered after his involvement in a horrific incident. Working alongside, Shanna and Cody realize the case isn’t what it seems. As they delve into the clues, sparks fly, but both refuse to accept their growing need. Can he save the woman he’s fallen in love with before it’s too late?

EXCERPT

Shanna flipped through her notes. “Stop here.”

“Here?” Cody eyed the busy street, searching for a location to park. The sidewalks were crawling with activity. Sidewalk cafes were packed with tourists and locals alike enjoying the warm evening, the atmosphere relaxed and inviting. “Why here?”

“Wine store. One of the best. We should be able to find what I need.”

He had to wonder what she believed necessary. He maneuvered the Ferrari into a space. “Let’s keep a low profile, or as low as possible anyway.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asked then climbed out of the car.

“You should have placed a neon flashing sign around your neck. You’re overdressed.”

“My style. Not yours. Remember?” She shot him a look of disdain and slammed the car door, taking off down the sidewalk without waiting for him.

Cody caught up to her quickly and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her in close and whispering in her ear. “You don’t have to like me but you do have to pretend. Remember, anyone could be watching.”

She tilted her head. “Yes, of course. I hope you brought the credit cards.”

“Always the ballbuster. Now, I’m going to take your hand. Act like you adore me instead of wish I were dead.” He grabbed her hand, interlocking their fingers, and tugged her down the sidewalk. The touch was electric, far too intense. His hands sweated instantly and his heart rate skyrocketed. Shanna had managed to get under his skin.

While she didn’t pull away, she remained stiff until they walked inside the quaint shop. When she pulled away, everything about her demeanor had changed. “Look darling. This is the little shop I was telling you about.”

“Find whatever you like, baby. I want you happy.” He scanned the store, making mental note of the various patrons. The majority were well over forty and he suspected given the few prices listed on selected shelves, they were all wealthy.

Shanna swayed her hips as she walked toward the counter, pushing aside several customers. Her smile was huge, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “You know I will. You owe me for last night.”

Cody resisted reacting. They’d already been noticed by just about everyone close by. Flamboyant was her style. “But you said I was delicious last night.” The comment had mixed reactions but none that stood out. Like looking for a needle in a haystack.

She pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and leaned over the counter, winking as the well-manicured man behind the counter flushed. “I’m looking for something extra special tonight. Hubby and I are celebrating.”

Emmanuel 15The man cleared his throat then smiled thinly. “We have many incredible wines. Did you have something in mind?”

“Hmmm…” Brushing the tip of her finger across her lips, she exhaled in an exaggerated fashion her eyes darted to the gold nametag on the clerk’s lapel. “I’m thinking Merlot tonight, Scotty.”

“That’s Scott and all right. Let me show you the section where I think you’ll find exactly what you desire.” The man eased from behind the counter.

She held out her arm, twisting her index finger back and forth. “I always know and get what I want and right now, I desire that you find the wine I’m looking for, sweet Scotty.”

Cody folded his arms. He had to admit, the woman was good. At least six people were lingering, drinking in every detail. Five of the six were men. Two he ruled out immediately. The pudgy golfer types were definitely tourists. The woman was intriguing. Her necklace full of what appeared to be diamonds, she reeked of money. The other three men were all in their mid to late forties, impeccably dressed and extremely attentive. He memorized their faces. They weren’t the few on the suspect list.

Scott’s forehead glistened with perspiration. “What wine would you like? I’ll see if I can find. Please keep in mind that our wines are very expensive.”

Cody was forced to look away for fear of bursting into laughter. At least three people murmured under their breath.

“My dear, sweet Scotty. Money is no object. Isn’t that right, babycakes?” She flashed a look in Cody’s direction.

“As I said, anything your heart desires, my love.” So much for laying low. Cody shifted and walked to the other side of the store. From the vantage point, he caught a glimpse of Stoker Wilde entering the store. An interesting coincidence? Maybe.

“I’d like a bottle, no two bottles of Opus One. Since you’re such a fine establishment, I’m certain you carry the wine?” Shanna twisted, enabling the men already ogling to catch a better glimpse of her cleavage.

“We have a fine 2009 but it’s almost two hundred dollars a bottle,” Scott said in a clipped tone.

Shanna rolled her eyes. “Not the 2009. That’s like drinking grape juice. I’m talking the 2011.”

Whatever kind of wine she’d asked for garnered several reactions from the bystanders. Cody inched closer as did Stoker until they were only two feet apart.

“Your wife has excellent taste,” Stoker said, his tone husky and low.

“Her tastes match her proclivities, a bit wild,” Cody countered. Stoker owned several businesses in the Napa Valley including what many in law enforcement believed to be an exclusive BDSM club. Throwing out the bone was only one tactic.

“Hmmm… You’re a lucky man, although if you ask me, she’s a bit on the impetuous side. If she were mine, a round of discipline would be in order. Yes, she wouldn’t be able to sit down for days.” Stoker grinned and walked away, but his eyes never left Shanna.

One human trait he knew about Stoker was that he usually marked his territory. Stoker’s statement was of intent to conquer. This was Cody’s intuition and not just because he was a cop. As they left the store, walking hand in hand, he noticed Stoker watching their every move. He shivered and he wasn’t entirely certain why.

She’s gone through trauma, forced to leave everything and everyone she knows and try and forge a new life.

Unfortunately, monsters – the human kind – really do exist. They feed on our nightmares, our insecurities and they know how to destroy us. Or do they? The first coming from Blushing Books on June 27th. Please celebrate with me the extreme love and a book I’m so  very proud of.

EXCERPT

Diego’s car careened to the side. He twisted and turned the wheel but skidded straight into a ditch. His body jerked forward, constrained by the seatbelt, yet the force knocked the wind out of him. When the car stopped, he sucked in his breath and shook his head. He blinked until he could focus and grabbed the rearview mirror. He’d hit something, but what? The darkened road was all he could see. He peered out of the windshield and controlled his breathing. Maybe a tree limb?

“God help me.” Fiddling with the belt, he struggled to release the clip. As he scrambled out of the car, he blinked in an attempt to make out anything. The wind howled but he heard a distinct whimpering sound. Swallowing hard, he lumbered forward. The rain continued to pour, making seeing anything all but impossible. Shaking, he stopped and listened.

“Eeee…”

He folded his arms across his chest and continued trudging in a straight line as the wind slashed rain across his face.  A lump formed in his throat. A knowing.

“No! My baby. No!”

cowboy with lassoHe heard anguish in a woman’s voice. The sound was close. Too close. Gulping, he held his hand over his eyes and continued walking. “Hello?”

The woman was crying hysterically, her wailing heard above the storm. “No! Please God no!”

“Miss, are you all right?” Dear God, let her be okay. Please God. Please.

“My baby. You hurt my baby,” she screeched. “What’s wrong with you? No. No. No.”

“What?” Diego could no longer feel his legs. He closed the distance and peered down. A dog lay in the middle of the road. The pup’s chest was heaving and the breathing irregular. This can’t be happening. “Oh God. I’m so sorry.” He looked up and down the road. If anyone came around the blind corner, they’d be crushed.

“You have to help me! He’s all I have. Why? Why?” She was shaking, her voice rattled.

“Hold on. Let me see. I might be able to help.” As he knelt down he touched her shoulder. She flinched and kept her hand on the dog’s head.

“Why? Why didn’t you stop?”

“I didn’t see you. The storm and…” He couldn’t finish his sentence. What if he hadn’t been distracted? What if he’d kept his eyes on the road?

Crack!

As the thunder rolled, a flash of lightning gave him a momentary view of the injured animal. There was a massive gash on the dog’s neck as well as one of the back legs was twisted in an unnatural position. He realized that the animal could be in critical condition. Talk to her. Keep her calm. “What’s his name?” He eased his hand down the length of the dog’s torso. The heart rate was fast, but strong.

“Maverick. His name is Maverick and he’s all I have. All I have.” She crouched down, placing her face against the dog’s. She moaned as she rubbed his back. “He’s everything.”

The name stunned him momentarily. “Maverick?” An unwelcome memory surfaced and he was momentarily lost, the past strangling his breathing.

“You have to help him.”

“I’m trying. I don’t know what you want me to do.”

“He’s dying. You can’t let him die,” she wailed as she clutched his jacket, tears streaming down her face.

“I…I can’t. I don’t know how.”

“Mister, are you hearing me? You have to help him.” The woman turned her head in his direction. “You just have to make everything okay. Do you understand me? Do you!”

“I…” Diego jerked back to reality, shaking from the intense vision. Another flash of light and he managed to see her horrified eyes as well as her swollen lip. They’d both been running from something. You can do this. You’re trained. You know what to do. “Okay. I’m a vet. Let’s try and get him to my car. We’re not safe here on the road. Are you able to walk?” Placing his hand on Maverick’s heart he knew the situation was dire. There was no doubt the dog had to have internal bleeding. He had no choice but to move him.

“Yeah,” she mumbled and wiped rain from her face.

Maverick lifted his head, a single whimper escaping his lips. He lifted his paw to Diego, his eyes imploring.

Diego calculated the dog’s chances of survival. He believed that things occurred in the world for a reason. Tonight, his entire being was being challenged, let alone his very soul. “Come on buddy. It’s going to be okay.” He gingerly lifted the dog into his arms and rose to his feet, nuzzling the injured pup close to his chest. He prayed the car would start and he could get out of the ditch.

“Careful. Don’t hurt him. Please.” She huddled behind Diego as they struggled to get back to his car.

He opened the back door and eased Maverick inside. From the amber glow of the interior light, he managed to study her features. Whatever had occurred, the woman had suffered almost as much. “Go to the side of the road until I can get the car out of the ditch.”

“I’m not leaving him.” She gripped his jacket, her fingers digging into his arm. “Never. Do you hear me?”

Feigning a smile, he patted her hand. “And I’m not going anywhere. Okay? Trust me.”

In a few seconds she released her hold and took a step back, looking over her shoulder. She bit her lip. “Looks like you’re stuck. Why did this happen. Why?”

“Don’t count my old steed out just yet, missy. I’ve been through much worse.” Diego crossed his fingers as he climbed into the driver’s seat, leaving the door open. He’d seen her terrified expression. Someone was after her. “Here we go.” The engine clicked twice before turning over. The roar of the V-8 was at least a good sign. He pushed the gear into drive and pressed his foot on the gas pedal. The tires did nothing but whirl, spinning in the mud. “Damn it.”

“Too much gas and power. Put the gear into first and tap the pedal.”

I so hope you enjoyed.

Have a sizzling day

MONSTER

SYNOPSIS

I’m a monster.

There are no pretty words to wrap up the things I’ve done, the things I’ve been witness to, all in the name of the law. But wrong or right gets mixed up the longer you’re undercover, and what used to be a mask feels more like who I really am with each passing day.

Cold, ruthless, vicious. I’m Paulo García’s monster, and I’d swallowed that bitter pill whole, learnedMonster_promo1_med to deal with it… until she stormed into the house like some avenging angel.

And that’s what she is, an angel.

Nicole wants to save her brother. She showed up with an envelope full of cash and a smart mouth and found herself in a den of monsters. I wish I could say I was the best of them, I wish I could say I wanted to protect her — but she’s so damn sweet, and my life’s been bitter for too long.

And all I want is a taste before this world destroys her.

EXCERPT

The boys opened the front door, and Paulo strolled into the sitting room, making his way to the wet bar. One of the most violent drug lords ever to come out of South America, and he looked like he was on vacation with his casual clothes, his falsely friendly demeanor. My grip on the tequila bottle tensed as I stared at the man, but I made sure my expression was blank. It didn’t matter how much I hated him, I was his until the job was done.

“Not curious about the girl, Andre?” Paulo asked, tilting up his fresh drink to take a sip.

“Why should I be curious when I can get the play by play just from listening?”

“Well, José seems to think she’s a security risk.”

“If you need her handled, I’ll do it, jefe. Otherwise, I see plenty of ass walking around Miami.” I stayed still. Discussing shit like this was practically second nature now.

Paulo chuckled, leaning back with his elbows on the bar. “That’s what I like about you, Andre. Cold as ice.” He waved his drink at the men crowding the front door where a buzz of conversation had picked up. “The others are so hot tempered, they don’t think. You think.”

“Emotion clouds judgment.”

“You’re right. My father used to say… mata a tu corazón, o te matará. Do you know correct hero undercover coverthis phrase?”

I hadn’t heard it before, but I knew what it meant, and it fit Paulo perfectly. “Kill your heart, or it will kill you.”

A shark’s grin spread across Paulo’s features. “Exactly. Emotion makes you weak, and weakness is death.”

“Your father was a smart man,” I answered, voice on automatic, but the words were almost overridden by the feminine shout that came from the front door.

“Are you in there Paulo García? HUH?”

The man’s eyebrows lifted the tiniest fraction, his chilling smile not shifting. “Let her in, José.”

“Keep your fucking hands off me.” The blonde that stumbled into the room from the foyer was clad in shorts and a form fitting blue shirt that had some phrase across it in pale, swirling text. Male laughter followed her, and I forced myself to be still, not even breathing so I wouldn’t move.

She was definitely American, and fucking beautiful, and as I turned my eyes back to Paulo I knew the man smelled blood in the water. A wicked hunger waking up in those coal black eyes — the same hunger that I hated myself for feeling. “Hola, señorita. What can I do for you?”

“Do for me?” Her voice was practically boiling with rage, tanned cheeks flushing with it as she held out a thick envelope. “How about leaving my little brother the fuck alone? I’ve got your money, and I want you to take it and then never fucking speak to him again — any of you! That is what you can do for me, asshole.”

Marco and Diego started laughing behind her, amused by her little outburst as they looked over her curves, her strong legs, all the way down to the multi-colored running shoes on her feet. Even Paulo seemed vaguely amused as he spread his arms wide. “I have no idea who your brother is, belleza, but if he owes me money that was his choice.”

“Fuck you! I know you hurt Chris, threatened him, but this is it. Take your money, and get out of his life!” She shook the envelope again, shouting, and my cock twitched at the same moment my stomach dropped.

Brave and stupid. Paulo was going to eat her alive.

Thank you so much for being on my blog today. The excerpt is RED HOT!

Alpha Male – Hero Undercover

Why do we all love the bad boys? You know the type. They’re gritty, all male and have a penchant for danger? They’re also sexy hunks who thrive on passion, savoring their woman in a manner few men can. As readers, we tend to gravitate towards the guy who has a secretive past, sometimes lovable but more so once they’ve met the woman of their dreams.

If you think about your favorite romance novel, why does the hero resonate with you, driving you into a heightened state of desire? The answer is simple, at least in correct hero undercover covermy mind. He’s the kind of guy who won’t take no for an answer. He draws you into his dangerous world, whether as a cop, a mafia man, a biker or a cowboy. He thrives on his rough persona, often alienating so many around him – except for the woman who refuses to give up on the rough and tumble guy, teasing and comforting him in equal measures.

Imagine…  He calls you a brat and one day, out of the blue, yanks you over his knee, lifting your skirt and tugging down your panties. Then he issues a hard spanking with his bare hand. Can you imagine how wet and hot you’d be? Can you see yourself in this position, almost begging for more? I think there’s many a woman who would love to  have her man be this commanding, taking full control. After the intense round of discipline, he’ll carry you in his arms to the bedroom, devouring very single inch, driving you to unbridled heights of ecstasy.

Mmmm… Can you taste his lips, shiver as his hands brush down your arms, his fingers dancing across your skin? Can you imagine the moment you slide your hand down, cupping his groin, closing your eyes as you squeeze his throbbing shaft? Would  you give yourself to such a man, no matter the trickles of fear skating down your back?

I know I would.

That’s why we love to read about alpha males, men who are the Head of Household, Doms who refuse to take no for an answer. Men of power intrigue us. What makes them tick? Why are they so damn frustrating yet drive us to the edge of sanity? The influence of powerful men in business as well as pleasure entice every one of us, even causing some to seek out the resident bad boy in their life. They are chiseled, tall, muscular and often wearing tattoos indicating just how dangerous their nature truly is. Sighs… I’m hungry. What about you?

Alpha males are also often the heroes in our worlds. They are the single person able to save our lives, provide shelter while they enable you to discover passion. They remind us that life is precious and to live your life as if there is no tomorrow.
