The Strategy of Love – Hero Undercover – Guest Alyssa Bailey

Happy Wednesday to everyone! I have another fabulous guest from the Hero Undercover compilation coming on June 27th – at least officially. Remember, you can pre-order now and all for only $.99. I love the fact every story in this HUGE book has a totally different hero. While you can say all are rugged, handsome and sexy, what you’re going to find is that they come from all walks of life. From military men to undercover cops, men involved in the mafia, Dom’s, cowboys and everything in between, they have a dangerous style, a need to save their heroine – or command her.

We all have an idea of what makes a hero. For most, we think of someone who is selfless, saves lives, puts others first. That may be true, but we also love a taste of danger, a heightened sense of thrill with our books. No matter what you love to read, correct hero undercover coveryou’re going to find it in the pages of one sizzling book. Now onto getting to know Alyssa.

THE STRATEGY OF LOVE

The memory of him held Kayla more captive than the kidnappers he’d rescued her from.

SYNOPSIS

Kayla Rhea loved her humanitarian work in Africa even after her kidnapping and subsequent rescue by Ranger Hunter Barrett, the face of a man she hasn’t yet been able to tuck away with the memories of that experience.

Hunter Barrett, now living a civilian life, can’t forget the woman he rescued during his last military mission. Even though he worked for her father on occasion, he has kept out of her way. But life must go on, so it’s time to claim her as his or purge her from his life forever.

EXCERPT

Kayla loved the play. The little taps were stingy but not uncomfortable.  She loved the way it made her pink bits twitch and her breasts tingle. She watched him roll her over and felt him lay three substantial swats to her right cheek, and her juices flowed.

“Mmm, do it again.” She looked over at him.

Hunter raised his right eyebrow and hummed. “My baby likes a little slap and tickle, huh?”

“Please,” she begged.

He rolled her to slap the other cheek. “Now open so I can see how wet you are for me.”

This time she spread them wide. The heat from those few smacks made her warm all over. She’d always known she was intrigued by spanking, but no one had ever spanked her before. She’d been a good kid, but she could learn how to be naughty in the bedroom if she could get these types of results. Kayla lifted her pelvis to help him find her treasures and yelped at the slap on her pussy. She grunted her surprise.

“I’m the boss in here, Kayla. I’ll decide what you need. And I think what you need now is me.”

Kayla watched as Hunter took one hardened nipple into his mouth and sucked with ever increasing strength as he made her writhe with flames of passion. He loved the other breast equally before kissing down her belly. Kayla felt him nip at her labia before peeling back her lower lips to expose the slippery center. She felt herself panic.

Her very experienced girlfriend in college once told her, “Men don’t really like to taste women, Kayla, didn’t anyone ever tell you before?”

“Don’t… I mean, I don’t expect you to.”

He stopped, poised above her most intimate area. “Good to know, but are you saying you don’t like it, or you don’t think I’ll like it?”

“I don’t know if I’ll like it because…” she shrugged her shoulders slightly, “… well, I know guys don’t like it.”

“Sweetheart, I don’t know who told you that, but it’s a lie. Men love it. This man loves it.”

“Oh.” He resumed his task. “Mmm, that feels so nice.”

Alyssa is a firm believer in all things spanking. She loves writing about domestic discipline and consensual power exchanges between strong, intelligent women who are not afraid to make a stand and men confident enough to give his woman space, but Alpha enough to keep her safe, in spite of herself.

SAVING SARAH

Keeping her safe proved as challenging as luring her into his bed.

SYNOPSIS

Sarah Thompson set out on a mission to land a husband, anyone who was the complete opposite of her nemesis, Police Chief, Travis Nolan.  But the man didn’t know how to take no for an answer, and thwarted her pursuit every time she turned around.  When he offered her a shocking alternative to issuing her a third, consecutive speeding ticket, the explosion of pleasure she experienced under his painful swats and rough possession left her flummoxed.  Vowing not to let her unruly body veer her off course, she continued her pursuit of a ‘nice’ man, unknowingly becoming a target of a serial rapist.

Travis found his frustration with his temporary foray back into undercover work to correct hero undercover coversearch for a serial GHB rapist and murderer compounded by Sarah’s insistence on a ridiculous man hunt, her search for Mr. Wrong when he, Mr. Right was right in front of her.  Once he felt her come apart under his hand and body, he knew he would do whatever was necessary to keep her safe and in his bed.

When Sarah gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and had to rely on Travis to save her, she realized the man for her had been on her doorstep for months.  Now, if only he would arrive in time to save her so she could tell him so.

EXCERPT

An hour later, dawn had yet to peak over the horizon when a sharp rap on the glass pane of the bakery’s front door startled Sarah out of going over the mental list of things she wanted to change about herself while she kneaded a large ball of bread dough.  Blowing upward to get the loosened strands of hair out of her face, she sighed in frustration.  That could only be Chief Nolan stopping by for his daily bag of donuts.  The man seemed to think because he was the police chief, he could command she open an hour early every morning just to accommodate his schedule.  And so far, he had been right because she didn’t have the nerve to tell him no.

“Coming,” she called out, snatching a towel to wipe her hands the best she could as she strode from the kitchen to the front of the bakery. She wished she hadn’t sent Todd to the twenty-four-hour market for a few supplies.  Unlocking the door, she flung it open and glared up, way up, at her nemesis.  Her pulse spiked under the slow stroke of his pewter eyes that was as potent as a caress, a reaction she should be used to by now, but wasn’t.  With her new resolve in place, Sarah refused to be waylaid by the man, law or not.  “Chief, what can I get you this morning?”  Stepping aside, she let him in.

“Good morning to you too, Sarah.”  Reaching into his breast pocket, he pulled out two tickets as she edged behind the counter.  Setting them down, he tilted his Stetson back with a thumb, giving her a better view of a rugged face bronzed by sun and wind and capped with coal black hair.  “You haven’t paid these.”

“I’m sorry, I’ve been so busy, I forgot.”  Picking up the speeding tickets, she winced at hot man with chainsthe fines.  “I can come in this afternoon and take care of them.”

Leaning on the counter, he replied in that slow drawl that never failed to curl her toes.  “Someone should’ve taken you over their knee a long time ago.”

“Chief!  You can’t talk to me that way!  What if someone heard you?” she hissed in alarm.  That look and hint of a threat set her heart to hammering with uncertainty, which didn’t concern her near as much as the sudden warm gush between her legs.  She didn’t even like the man, for pity sake.

“No one’s around.”  Straightening, he pointed to the chocolate long johns.  “Give me three of those, and a large coffee to go.”

Alpha Male – Hero Undercover

Why do we all love the bad boys? You know the type. They’re gritty, all male and have a penchant for danger? They’re also sexy hunks who thrive on passion, savoring their woman in a manner few men can. As readers, we tend to gravitate towards the guy who has a secretive past, sometimes lovable but more so once they’ve met the woman of their dreams.

If you think about your favorite romance novel, why does the hero resonate with you, driving you into a heightened state of desire? The answer is simple, at least in correct hero undercover covermy mind. He’s the kind of guy who won’t take no for an answer. He draws you into his dangerous world, whether as a cop, a mafia man, a biker or a cowboy. He thrives on his rough persona, often alienating so many around him – except for the woman who refuses to give up on the rough and tumble guy, teasing and comforting him in equal measures.

Imagine…  He calls you a brat and one day, out of the blue, yanks you over his knee, lifting your skirt and tugging down your panties. Then he issues a hard spanking with his bare hand. Can you imagine how wet and hot you’d be? Can you see yourself in this position, almost begging for more? I think there’s many a woman who would love to  have her man be this commanding, taking full control. After the intense round of discipline, he’ll carry you in his arms to the bedroom, devouring very single inch, driving you to unbridled heights of ecstasy.

Mmmm… Can you taste his lips, shiver as his hands brush down your arms, his fingers dancing across your skin? Can you imagine the moment you slide your hand down, cupping his groin, closing your eyes as you squeeze his throbbing shaft? Would  you give yourself to such a man, no matter the trickles of fear skating down your back?

I know I would.

That’s why we love to read about alpha males, men who are the Head of Household, Doms who refuse to take no for an answer. Men of power intrigue us. What makes them tick? Why are they so damn frustrating yet drive us to the edge of sanity? The influence of powerful men in business as well as pleasure entice every one of us, even causing some to seek out the resident bad boy in their life. They are chiseled, tall, muscular and often wearing tattoos indicating just how dangerous their nature truly is. Sighs… I’m hungry. What about you?

Alpha males are also often the heroes in our worlds. They are the single person able to save our lives, provide shelter while they enable you to discover passion. They remind us that life is precious and to live your life as if there is no tomorrow.

Hero Undercover is a compilation of 25 novellas from talented authors, including myself, highlighting these types of men in several genres. Coming from Blushing Books, this is the read of the summer and I dare say, will make you wet with intense desire. Available now as a pre-order for only $.99, just imagine sliding into something comfy, grabbing a frosty beverage and settling in for a sizzling read.

I’m offering a gift for promoting this fabulous set. The blog is new so help me reach 100 followers and those followers will be entered into a lottery for a $25 apple card. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Celebrate the upcoming release and purchase or gift a copy. You won’t be disappointed.

EXCERPT

Boom! Crash!

McKenzie Reynolds cringed as she inched toward the bay window. Another bolt of intense lightning sent tingles skating down her spine. She rubbed her arm and brought the wine glass to her lips. Stop. Just stop. Fear of the weather she didn’t need.

“Wwwaaaa…”

Maverick. Shivering, she swallowed hard hearing whimpers coming from the other room. Her beloved golden retriever hated thunderstorms as much as she did. A sip of wine turned into a gulp. Sadly, even the expensive merlot couldn’t calm her nerves. Nor had the sleeping pills the night before. The storm added to her growing list of fears and concerns, the majority intangible. At least her only real girlfriend kept telling her. Little did Jessie know about the life she led behind her usually pristine mask. The mask was now brittle, pieces falling away into oblivion. She laughed bitterly before tipping her head towards the terrified pup. “There you are. Were you hiding under the bed again?” Of course, he sensed her worry. He always knew when she was sad or angry. How many tears had she shed while burying her head into his fur?

Maverick padded into the living room, his tail hanging between his legs. “Woof.”

“It’s okay, baby. Nothing’s going to hurt you.” Not unless she was six feet under. After patting her thigh three times, Maverick finally inched forward, his eyes never leaving hers. “My baby boy. Mommy loves you.” Crouching down, she snuggled against his neck, drinking in the same sweet scent he’d had since a puppy. He licked her face as his tail whapped back and forth. Her baby was her constant comfort, sleeping next to her every night, abating nearly all her nightmares. She kissed his muzzle and eased to her feet. Every nerve was on edge.

“Sometimes I feel like there’s not going to be a tomorrow.” The words were hollow, the sound little more than a ragged whisper, but Maverick understood. Nuzzling against her legs, he huffed as if acknowledging her concerns.

“I know, baby. A new life. A better world. Maybe I’m just a fool.” All she wanted was peace yet the hackles on the back of her neck remained armed and ready. The storm was a nasty reminder of her past – cold and stormy.

Wham!

“Shit!” The exclamation rushed from her mouth. She opened her eyes wide and watched as a tree limb thudded on the rain soaked ground. Maverick turned in circle after circle, his nails scraping against the old wooden floor. She allowed a thin smile as he nuzzled in between her legs. As she placed her hand on top of his head, a pair of headlights in the distance caught her attention. She expected no one, not on a night where the weather station had mentioned the possibility of tornadoes. A thin line of sickening anticipation slithered down the back of her legs as her intuition kicked in.

The monster was here.

McKenzie rubbed Maverick’s ear and licked a bead of wine from her glass. The warm day had turned into a tumultuous night. The humid and wet weather pattern was completely unusual for Virginia at the end of December. Christmas Day had brought torrential downpours, further exacerbating her horrific mood swings. Now she was praying for the start of the new year. A bitter laugh slipped past her lips. As if there’s be something to look forward to. Her thoughts turned ugly, memories of so many wretched months lingering deep in her psyche.

Maverick’s yelp dragged her back to reality. She prayed the visitor would veer off toward one of her two neighbors, even if they were acres apart. When the stream of light drew closer, she cursed under her breath.

“Go away. Please, go away.” Don’t let him get the best of you. He’s a lying sack of shit. He’s a piece of dirt. He’s a worthless son of a bitch. All true. Then why did tears threaten to fall down her cheeks? She gripped Maverick’s neck for support. This was merely a poor soul lost in the storm. The unwanted visitor had to be a stranger.

The lights dimmed and blipped, going off completely then popping back on a second later. Whoever had found her wasn’t going anywhere.

“Gggrrr…”

“Shhh… We have late night visitors. Be on your best behavior.” Please God make them go away. Please, oh please.

“Woof!”

Boom!

Biting her lip, she eased away from the window. Shadows had become her friend. She concentrated on the bright LED lights on her Christmas tree. The colorful decoration was supposed to have brought her happiness. Right. There’d been no Christmas for her, except for a single party with a few acquaintances. Even the festive event hadn’t brightened her mood. This was no longer her favorite time of year.

A vivid series of images flashed in the back of her mind. She’d been happy once upon a time. Laughter and love, nights spent in front of the fireplace or outside on the deck had been the norm. Then everything had changed, leaving her empty.

A series of lightning bolts made her shudder. Within a few seconds, she heard the sound of heavy feet on her front porch. Her stomach churned as the front door knob was turned, the person behind the door anticipating entrance without interference.

“Asshole,” McKenzie whispered. She took another gulp of wine and moved in front of the door. She glanced over her shoulder as Maverick whined. The poor baby didn’t know there was a jerk off standing less than a foot away, only three inches of solid oak standing in the way. Or maybe he did know given his teeth were barred. This couldn’t be happening. She’d planned carefully, or so she thought. Maybe her attorney had accidentally slipped, giving out her address. If so, she’d fire his ass.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Instantly she placed her index finger over her mouth and shook her head, willing Maverick to be quiet. She held her breath hearing nothing for a full minute.

I hope you enjoyed and do something for me today – donate to a shelter. Fur babies will bring you more joy than you’ve ever known.

Take a taste… Coming officially on June 27th, but you can pre-order now!

SYNOPSIS

Private Investigator Shanna Jacobs has no issue chasing scumbag criminals down on her Harley. Blackmailed into working with the local police department, the case involving wine fraud utilizes one of her many talents. However, going undercover correct hero undercover coveralongside a sexy cowboy cop may destroy her mask of steel. Detective Cody Walker is estranged from his ranch in Montana, taking the only job offered after his involvement in a horrific incident. Working alongside, Shanna and Cody realize the case isn’t what it seems. As they delve into the clues, sparks fly, but both refuse to accept their growing need. Can he save the woman he’s fallen in love with before it’s too late?

EXCERPT

“All right asshole. Let’s see what you have.” Shanna Jacobs shoved the Glock in the pocket of her jacket, threw her leg over the Harley and buckled her helmet. She kicked the stand into the up position and revved the engine. Mr. Jerkoff thought he could get away. Well, he had another thing coming. She eased the bike out from the alley and waited, watching as he slid into the corvette. He had no idea she was on his tail. The elusive Stoker Wilde, the perp she’d been following for a solid week, didn’t have his entourage with him. Mistake. Bad mistake.

Chuckling, she idled as he started the engine, then she rolled out to the curb. No matter where he went, she would follow.

He roared out of the parking lot, flooring the engine within seconds. She hunkered down and followed closely behind, weaving her way through the darkened city streets. How many nights had she staked out the man who her client believed was responsible for at least two deaths? How many times had he alluded her? Too many. Not tonight. She’d learned all about his weaknesses for wine and women. On this sizzling summer evening, she’d take him down singlehandedly.

Stoker picked up speed, running several red lights as he made his way out of the city. She knew his destination, had learned everything about a man believing himself to be the King. As wind whipped through her hair, she lowered her body toward the handlebars. She had one last chance to catch Stoker in illegal activities before her client walked, securing another investigator. That shit wasn’t going to happen on her watch. She was the best at what she did.

Accelerating out of the city limits he picked up speed, racing past the last of the titty bars and massage parlors, his bread and butter in criminal activity. All she had to do to complete the lucrative assignment was confirm his relationship with the most powerful man in the city. Pictures were worth a thousand words and in her case, ten thousand dollars, money she desperately needed. The prize was worth the danger.

Shanna was careful, remaining behind two cars and a van. After losing him for a few seconds, she craned her neck as he made a sharp turn. No way you’re getting away from me. Ten seconds later she made the same turn and gasped. Flashing blue lights blinded her and she skidded, the bike shifting in a perpendicular manner. She noticed the Bronco crisscrossing the road just seconds before she slammed on her breaks. Where the hell did Stoker go? “Fuck!”

Wham!

man on harleyStars floated in front of her eyes as she rolled across the pavement. She was cognizant enough to hear her beloved Harley crash into an immovable object, the crunch matching her high-pitched scream. The mother fucker had figured out he was being tailed. Then what were the blue lights about? She landed with a hard thud. Every muscle ached like a son of a bitch. There was no way she could pass out. She’d never be seen again. Struggling to move, she managed to turn over, and dug her fingers into the dirt as she opened her eyes. She could vaguely make out a set of cowboy boots and long legs closing the distance.

“Well, well. What do we have here?”

The flashlight beam cut her vision to scattered streams of light. Shanna groaned as she pushed up from the ground. Woozy, she blinked, trying to focus and as unable to see any details of his face. “What in the hell are you doing?”

“I should ask you the same question. You’re lucky to be alive.”

The voice, the husky and sensuous tone was melodic, alluring. She panted as she struggled to figure out what the hell was going on. There was no way she could have lost Stoker. No way. She was a damn good tail. “Who are you?”

The man with the sexy voice crouched down, moving the flashlight out of her eyes. “I think the real question is who are you?”

Mr. Sexy Voice had a chiseled face, hair down to his shoulders and the cutest set of dimples she’d ever seen. She also knew instinctively he was a cop. “You almost killed me.”

“But I didn’t. Your bike might need some adjustments though.”
