Taken…

Just imagine if you had no choice or say in your future. And just imagine if you were required to marry someone you didn’t even know. The Hamptons are home to the rich and powerful, the elite amongst politicians and corporate moguls. BUT… There is a community who truly holds all the power.

They also have requirements that MUST be followed.

I’m also thrilled to say this is my 40th release with Stormy Night Publications, a true honor.

The second to Given, this is Matteo’s story.

Take a taste of…

TAKEN

Winter

Terror.

I couldn’t stop shaking, my hands numb from the tight grip on the steering wheel. I’d never felt the kind of fear that snaked around every vein and muscle, twisting and yanking, a beast clawing at my system. My family had betrayed me, my mother and taken_fullfather pretending for years that I could make my own choices, securing the kind of life that I wanted. Me. Their only child.

I’d been a good girl my entire life, playing by the rules, never once crossing the line between right and wrong.

Now this? What had I ever done to deserve this kind of horror? I could still feel the guests’ imploring eyes as they gawked at me, could almost hear their whispered words. I could swear they’d been chanting words of encouragement, much like when Matteo had made certain I realized this was my only choice. The entire community was nothing but a cult. The fear and rage from realizing the entire situation had been planned for some time had brewed into an explosive combination. I was out of my mind with desperation to get away.

Even though I knew I would never be free of them.

Members would catch me, punish me. Then they would place me in a cage.

Or worse.

I was nothing but property now, at least according to the sanctimonious Sacred Sect. To hell with them.

Please. Please. Please.

“You will adhere to our rules.”

“You will obey.”

My father’s sanctimonious words had been said with a smile.

I had to find a way out of this nightmare.

I could barely breathe as I pressed down on the accelerator. I’d only managed to grab the cash I’d been given inside the ugly Box, the wad of hundred-dollar bills nothing more than blood money, a bribe to keep me quiet.

That wasn’t going to happen.

I wrapped my hand around the beautiful necklace surrounding my neck and yanked, opening the window and pitching it. How many times had I begged my mother to allow me to wear it? The lovely piece was one of the expensive items that had indentured my mother into her arranged marriage. I knew I was tossing thousands of dollars out the window, but what the hell did I care? I refused to wear a collar for anyone.

Including my intended husband.

It was nothing more than a noose.

How could he? The bastard had actually tried to befriend me, pretending he was nobody.

Not a revered god in the community.

Not a beast who could destroy people’s lives.

Now I knew exactly who the asshole was, ugly memories flooding my mind.

Matteo Capodanno was considered one of the most powerful and dangerous men in the country. His influence hovered over various cities and organizations like a black veil of death. I’d read enough about the entire family to know how connected they were.

Blackmail.

Extortion.

Murder.

The Capodannos would do anything to protect their own.

Including Matteo’s soon to be wife.

But only after punishing her into submission.

Me. That was supposed to be me.

“No!” I hissed as I stared into the rearview mirror, able to see the headlights coming closer.

I refused to marry anyone against my will, especially an arrogant asshole.

Everything had come tumbling back to me, including the stories my father had told me years before. Anyone who betrayed the sect was punished, several facing a horrible demise, any possible identification removed from their bodies before being dumped into the ocean.

Or set on fire.

Their families had been shunned, their wealth and power stripped from them, never to be seen again. He’d told me that very story the first time I’d attempted to run away. I’d been dragged back by the same asshole who’d come to pick me up at the airport only hours before.

I would never forget that horrible time. I’d learned at that moment my life was far from a fairytale, my parents abiding by a system that I couldn’t understand and refused to learn more about.

I’d been locked in my room like a prisoner for four weeks. Then I’d been told the story, even shown graphic pictures.

All in an effort to protect me, to help me understand the way of life within the Sacred Sect.

At least according to my parents.

Then everything had returned to normal as they attempted to soft-sell the requirements, prattling on how happy they were even as tears had filled my mother’s eyes.

Everyone was rich within the community, their wealth measured in millions. Stocks. Bonds. Land. Incredible properties in several locations. Jewels. There was nothing that any of the members could want for, no luxury that hadn’t been supplied.

Their price? Allegiance.

Obedience.

Yet I knew they bathed in the blood of others, destroying anyone who stood in their way.

The men of the sect also held power up and down the East Coast, capable of putting the fear of God into everyone from politicians to members of law enforcement.

I rubbed the tears from my eyes, trying to focus on the road. I’d stolen a car. The thought made me laugh out loud. My God, I’d swiped one of the guests’ precious Mercedes.

You will face their wrath.

This was certainly a punishable offense on several levels. I could only imagine what would happen if they caught me.

I would never let that happen. I’d run far away. I’d change my name. I’d lose myself in some fucking jungle if I had to. I no longer cared. I just wanted to get the hell away from them.

To live my life.

The lights were getting even closer. Oh, God. Oh, God. I hunkered over the steering wheel, trying to pay attention to what was in front of me, but the emotions rolling through every inch of my mind were horrific.

All I’d ever wanted was a normal family with a mother and a father who were proud of me. I’d never pretended that I’d find an incredible knight or a hero of any kind who would sweep me off my feet, taking me to a magical land. That wasn’t me.

Now this. No. No!

I’d never gotten close enough to anyone to share aspects of my colorful life. To everyone who knew me, I was a simple girl from a modest family, paying her way through college like so many others. They didn’t need to know anything else. What did it matter now? Everything I’d worked for was likely already gone.

My job.

My condo.

My car.

Everything.

I knew how members of the sect worked and what they could do within hours. I had cash and I had my freedom.

For a few years, I’d believed my parents no longer cared about the ritual, the requirement of all girls who reached the age of twenty-four. After the day I’d been freed from my home prison, they’d never mentioned another word about the tradition or the requirements, even allowing and encouraging me to go to nursing school in another state. What had changed? Had my parents been threatened?

Or was this all about their greed?

***

A powerful Council. Five men dedicated to keeping a tradition over a century old. Five men prepared to do what it took to harbor secrets. They held absolute control over dozens of industries, with the ability to destroy anyone who refused to play by their rules.

Even after betrayal had almost destroyed everything they’d created.

Only their firstborn sons were allowed to take their place.

Danger…

The majority of people went through life never experiencing the concept.

They never feared for their lives or those of their loved ones.

Danger was something seen on the media, tragedies happening to others.

They believed they were safe from the treachery of ruthless monsters.

But they were wrong…

The Sacred Sect was still watching.

My Special Guest – Nicolina Martin

I have a fabulous guest who has a Dystopian book out with a brand new – HOT cover. I adore this lady and think you’re going to love this piece! Let’s take a look from the amazing Nicolina Martin.

I AM EVE

Synopsis

I survived the fall of civilization, but I didn’t live… until I met him.

Adam is not a good man. He’s a criminal. A warlord. Someone who takes without asking. He is guarded and cold.

But that’s not all he is. He’s also a father. A leader. A battered soul who refuses to stop I am Eve newfighting.

I’m blind, but I see the real man behind the wounded, world-weary façade, and I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything. His touch sets my skin ablaze. He fills my house with laughter and light, and then leaves me with a gift that might bring life to a dying world.

It seems our love can save… everything.

EXCERPT

“Who are you, Eve?”

His voice fondles my ear, and when he wraps long, wiry arms around my chest and pulls me to him, the fire returns.

“I just sculpt,” I whisper, acutely aware of every part of him that touches me.

“Screams?”

I swallow hard. My breath stutters on the intake. Adam chuckles softly.

“It’s just clay,” I say, my voice faint.

His hands find mine, turn them palms up. His thumb strokes back and forth along the ridged scars. The flames inside rush to where our skin meets, tickling, stinging, teasing and taunting.

“Not in these hands, it isn’t. You make magic happen, girl.”

His strokes become more demanding, rough, pulling at my skin and releasing it. With every scar he touches, memories flare up from when I got them. Every burn. Every cut. Every piece of art I’ve created has left traces on me, and he awakens them all. I’ve poured my life into clay: my fears, my few hopes, the agony this house has lived through, the punishments, laughter, tears, God and the Devil, Mother’s voice, Father’s belt. Everything.

“It’s just earth and water.”

“And you breathe life into it.”

I gasp with the sudden pain when Adam kneads the flesh at the base of my thumb. I have tight knots everywhere. I’m so tense. “Ow.”

He chuckles, then hugs me tighter to him, pushing my hair to one side and resting his cheek against my ear. “Take my scream, and make it yours, Eve. Do your thing,” he whispers.

I nod. My skin is too tight, and I have forgotten how to breathe. My legs feel as if the bones have liquefied. I manage to get up on my feet, then I turn and hold out my hand to him.

“Come.”

Sounds pretty amazing! Thank you for joining me. The purchase link is at the bottom.

One Bad Man – Hawk

You know I love my bad boys and I have the brand new start to one set alpha series. All the men are dark and demanding, Marines and cowboys. And they know how to dominate their women. Take a peek at the first in the series… Oh, and as always, FREE to read if you have a KU Subscription.

HAWK

There was utter fury in her eyes, the kind that set emotions on fire. I knew that level of rage well. “You ain’t gonna get them from me, at least not tonight. Now, I’m losing my patience. You need to get out of my house or pay the price. Up to you.” I was prepared to let it go when she took two long strides until she was only inches away, her eyes sparking hawk_fullwith venom.

“The price? You mean the way you handled things in the grocery store? That was more like some Neanderthal than a true man. Who do you think you are, cowboy of the year? I don’t get it. You just don’t seem to care that there might be something criminal going on in this town. That makes you a true monster in my opinion. The fire that killed your brother was… suspicious.”

Another line drawn in the sand. Jesus Christ. The woman had balls. I realized the only way to get her the hell out of my… the house was to offer my opinion.

And she was going to listen.

“Look, I read the report regarding the fire. Okay? Everything was pretty clear. It was a tragic accident and nothing more.” I thought about the single page that had been emailed to me after four phone calls from overseas, two of which I’d had to issues threats on after being stalled. I had to admit, the report was bullshit in my opinion, but I wasn’t in the position to challenge the situation. The fact this reporter was digging into whatever had occurred wasn’t likely in her best interest.

Or mine.

Certain people in authority positions had a funny way of handling being threatened and I didn’t think the lovely reporter was prepared to find out what that meant. Why was there an intense pool of uncertainty developing in my gut? Christ. I didn’t need this.

She snorted as she offered a heated gaze, her eyes traveling the entire length of me before settling on my eyes. The fire burning within her was far too enticing, my heart racing and my balls tightening. Why was she goading me so hard?

“All lies,” she stated as if she knew for certain.

I folded my arms, remaining unblinking. “Then you tell me what’s going on and maybe, just maybe, I’ll tell you what I know.”

“That’s not going to happen, buster. No one treats me the way you have. You get nothing from me. Zero.”

While I appreciated her tenacity and her spunk, the moment she raised her arm to smack me across the face, I’d had enough.

“That’s it. I’ve had it with your hard push, your ridiculous behavior, and your accusations.” I snagged her wrist, pulling her arm behind her as I dragged her closer. The feel of her body planted snugly against mine wasn’t in my best interest. I craved the woman, her perfume alone more intoxicating than any bottle of tequila on a warm summer’s night.

“What do you think you’re doing?” she demanded, her tone even haughtier than before. Her lower lip quivered as her eyes darted back and forth.

My buddies might call my actions impetuous, even stupid, but this little lady was impossible to resist.

“First, I’m doing this.” I crushed my mouth over hers as she struggled, finally snagging my fingers in her luscious curls.

She wiggled against me, moaning into the kiss, the friction creating a round of electricity like nobody’s business. The taste of her was sweet and tangy, just like the woman herself. I enjoyed dominating her tongue, yanking her body into a soft arc as I held her.

Stars floated in my field of vision as I explored her mouth, the essence of her fueling the need to devour every inch of her.

She pummeled her fists against me then clasped her hands around my shirt, still undulating her hips like the sassy brunette had some kind of control.

The woman would soon learn differently.

I broke the moment of passion, still holding her close. “Now, I’m gonna give you a second lesson in cowboy justice. You break the rules, you have to pay the price.”

Struggling in my arms, the way her hips jetted back and forth across my cock only added fuel to the fire. Damn, this woman turned me on like no other.

“Over my dead body!” she exclaimed. She reared back, managing to smack me hard across the jaw.

I couldn’t help but grin as I dragged her closer to the couch, fumbling with her jeans. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. It’s up to you.”

“What? You’re insane. I’m not going to stand for this. Forget it, asshole. You’re nothing but a motherfucking jerk.”

“Motherfucking jerk. That will cost you. Now, I’m going to use my belt. You can lower your jeans and panties all by yourself or I’ll be happy to cut them into shreds for you.”

Her eyes remained open wide, both darting back and forth across mine. “You’re serious.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t kid about a thing like this, I assure you.”

“I will poke your eyes out with a knife if you dare try,” she retorted, rolling her eyes.

“And if you keep on, things are only going to get much worse.”

When she dared to jerk out of my grasp, I yanked her over my lap, immediately issuing several brutal smacks.

“Ouch. Ouch. Ouch!” she yelped, continuing to do everything in her power to fight me.

“Yup. Around these parts, whippings are supposed to hurt. Or are you one of those city slickers who thought coming to cowboy country was her ticket?”

“My ticket to what, assholes and chauvinistic pigs?” she yelped, kicking out her legs, the move grinding her sweet pelvis against mine.

I gritted my teeth, my jaw clenching as the overwhelming need to fuck her wrapped around my senses like venomous snakes. After peppering her bottom several additional times, I pulled her back onto her feet, adoring the warm blush spilling across her cheeks. I could only imagine the color of her ass cheeks.

She took several deep breaths, her mouth remaining slightly open, her lower lip quivering. “How. Dare. You.”

I gripped both her arms as she swayed, plastering a smile on my face. “Well, here’s the thing. You still broke the law and I have the upper hand. Now, either you lower your jeans and panties, or I’ll have no choice but to call the sheriff. We can sort it all out in front of him. I’m certain it’ll make for great news at eleven. Entirely your choice as to which you’d prefer.”

While remaining appalled, her eyes flashing sparks of venom, I could also see resignation working its way into her mind.

“I don’t have all night, sweetheart. What’s it gonna be?”

Another ten seconds passed.

Twenty.

“Fine,” she spit out. “But rest assured, if you have anything to hide, Mr. Jake Hawk Travers, I will find it and I will be happy to bury you.”

In those few seconds as her face remained the softest color of pink roses, her mouth twisting in frustration and excitement, I couldn’t get several over the top, ridiculous yet mind-blowing thoughts out of my mind.

She was a crazy destiny that I’d never thought would happen.

And I would enjoy every minute of training her.

After all, she was going to belong to me.

What did you think? One HOT dominating man, eh?
